Increasing Learner Agency

Illustrated scribble

Let’s increase learning and student agency, helping every learner get more practice, more feedback, and more tries everyday.

What We Believe

At Classkick, we believe in one simple truth: everyone wants to learn and grow. We also know students can do their best when they have great teachers, the right tools, helpful feedback, and good opportunities. Our vision is to increase learning and agency for all students — giving them control over their educational journey.

Human success, fulfillment, and happiness begin with the ability to learn and grow, ultimately achieving a certain level of agency. The beautiful thing about education is that it has the potential to help everyone reach that point.

Why Agency?

A hundred years ago, education’s purpose was to produce capable students who could read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, serving the needs of empires and nation-states. Fifty years ago, education became more about getting a good job—if you got a degree, you could get a better job; if you earned a higher degree, you could move even further up.

Today, information and learning are easier to access than ever, and schools are no longer gatekeepers of knowledge. But education is still important because it provides an exercise regime for practicing with and processing that knowledge.

Perhaps even more importantly, that exercise builds skills—like determination, confidence, grit, perseverance—that lead to higher agency.

Having control, or "agency," helps people choose their own career paths and find meaning and purpose. By developing agency, education gives people the power to shape their own future. They can reach higher levels of self-actualization.

Practice Makes Perfect

Building agency isn’t just about knowing things; it’s about practicing and getting feedback. Research shows that the more you practice, get feedback, and reflect on how you're doing, the better you learn.

But this process can be tricky—it involves knowing what to work on, how to improve, and finding the right resources. Classkick makes this easier by giving students the tools they need to practice, get feedback, fail, and keep improving.

The more control we have over our learning, the more we can do it on our own. Education is like learning to walk: at first, you need someone to guide you, but eventually, you learn to run by yourself.

Classkick makes practicing and getting feedback simple, clear, and easy. This lets students take charge of their own learning, while teachers and administrators can see their progress and support them in real-time.

Our Story

Classkick’s founder, Andrew, affectionately known as “Mr. Roro” by his high school students in Chicago, used to spend all his time trying to inspire curiosity and achievement in his students. His journey from a passionate teacher to an innovator began when he realized that the technology schools were using wasn’t actually helping teachers save time or helping students grow. Students and teachers deserved more.

Leveraging technical expertise from roles at Google and YouTube, Andrew made Classkick—a tool to increase classroom learning by offering more opportunities for student practice and immediate feedback. Rooted in research-backed pedagogy and domain specific design, Classkick is created by and for teachers to dramatically boost student outcomes.

Classkick’s goal is simple: give students more opportunities to try, practice, and get feedback every day. Research proves that more practice and faster feedback lead to better educational results.

Classkick’s work and mission extends beyond tech; we visit classrooms regularly to understand the needs of teachers and students firsthand and refine our educational tools to be the best. Classkick is more than a platform; it's a commitment to making every student's educational journey fulfilling and successful.
